Noel McCarthy – Sheep’s Head Peninsula, West Cork.
‘Some of my fondest memories are of out fishing in Dunmanus Bay for lobsters. I had a 26ft boat and fished for 20 years . You could shoot and haul your pots 3 times a day. In the evening I would always wait until I saw the first star in the night sky before I would start hauling.
I have a deep connection with the sea, its in my blood. There is no better place to be on a fine day, in harmony with your surroundings and the gentle lapping of the waves. There were other times when out in stormy weather I thought I’d never get back home. You must have respect for the sea but don’t be afraid of it.’
What a powerful shot.
Well done Noel.
