So pleased to find this picture.jJohn is a cousin of my father (John Fingleton) who left Bere Island many years ago. My husband and I have made a couple of trips over to the island, the last being several years ago. However,my son was over four years ago and proposed to his girlfriend at the foot of the Lighthouse. I have many happy memories of when my father bought us to ?Bere Island as children and we stayed in the old army houses just up from the post office in ?Rerrin village. If you wish to contact me please repot to bridgetphelanster@googlemail.com
My grandmother Kathleen was an O’Sullivan born on Bere island her mothers name was Agnes, I think there were quite a few of them I’ll have to ask my mother, grandma married an Englishman called James McGrath from Durham, and mum was one of six children and in 1963 they came out to Adelaide Australia. It’s nice to see all this stuff, I hope to get over there one day, mums cousin Laurence freeman spends a lot of time over there
