My favourite memory from my childhood … De-horning calves with my Dad. I loved being out on the farm with him.
I may be a girly beautician now, but I was a complete Tom Boy when I was younger.

Valentia Island Lighthouse –

Valentia Island Lighthouse, Co, Kerry

If you get a chance to visit Valentia Island, follow the road north from Knightstown to the lighthouse at Cromwell Point, especially on a stormy day to watch the big waves crashing onto the rocks at the lighthouse.

John Griffin – Retired Gillie, Lough Currane, Waterville, Co, Kerry

I have fished all my life on Lough Currane, fishing connects you to the raw beauty of the natural world in all its magnificence, it also teaches you patience and acceptance, all fishermen are equal in the pursuit of such virtues and the hope that a fish will rise. There is never an hour lost or a day wasted for no moment is the same in the every changing light and mood of the lake.

‘Somewhere over the rainbow bluebirds fly………………’

This shot was taken at dawn just as the sun came up over the horizon and lit up the whole bay.

I am at my most happiest when I am grateful. Unfortunately this does not happen enough as I know I have much to be grateful for. It is always the difficult life events that make us take stock and realise how blessed we really are. My goal is to make gratitude a constant rather than an aspiration in my life.’

My perfect day …… On a calm sunny morning to head out on my kayak with Ruby (my dog) to Long Island, then walk to the beacon on the eastern side and have a picnic. Or to swim out the harbour to ‘the point’ with my swim buddies then back to Schull where we meet up for a coffee and cake at the country market to warm up!’

My perfect West Cork day…………

After the madding crowds of summer have departed
After the migrant swifts have left these shores for warmer climes
When all in West Cork is returning to peace and serenity
A walk to the very end of Brow Head to stand and face the ocean
Knowing the air you breath is as pure as it can be
Knowing the next landfall is the USA and
there’s nothing between you and it but the open sea
You’re all alone on the edge of the world
There’s not a living soul to be seen for miles
Peace

Followed by a visit to O’Sullivan’s in Crookhaven
A pint of the black stuff in Ireland’s most Southerly bar
A basket of the freshest shrimps the ocean can provide
Consumed in front of the roaring fire
Perfection.’
