People of the Wild Atlantic Way –
Anne Marie Cronin – Castletownbere, West Cork.
‘I like being involved in my local community and giving something back to the people that are so good to me. I’m involved in voluntary organisations , especially the local GAA club which is like one large family supporting both children and adults, it helps galvanise and create community spirit.
The youngsters look up to the older people and in turn they encourage and look after them, helping them through the ranks. You are not anonymous in Castletownbere, you could walk down town on any given day and the 15 minutes that you would allocate to get something done could take an hour and a half before you’d get back home, its like a family. By giving in the community you get back twice as much.’
